The Task at Hand
NEDC came to us with a new logo and a lot of great photography that represented their design and build work very well. In spite of having a logo, NEDC had virtually no visual brand beyond that.
It was up to us to understand what their logo meant to them, who they were, and who they wanted to work with, and to reflect that visually in our site design.
Here’s what we came up with…

The High-impact Homepage
NEDC has a lot of information to communicate: their work, client happiness (in the form testimonials), thorough descriptions of their services and process, and a very active blog. Add content for SEO and a couple calls to action and a homepage can get cluttered pretty quickly, and lose its impact.
Using clean lines, light text, and translucent backgrounds we were able to balance all of these factors to create a homepage that is at once impressive and functional, grabbing the visitor’s attention and pointing them in the right direction.
Robust Portfolio
Every design and construction company needs a great portfolio. Because NEDC had an abundance of top-notch images that came in all shapes and sizes, we wanted to make room for them while avoiding the awkwardness of a lightbox or the constraints of a fixed-height slider. We opted for the simplest solution: a long scrolling page for as many images as needed.
Super Flexible Page Layouts
A great site design, along with a well-built content management system (WordPress, in this case), allows the client to continue to create and modify content while easily maintaining the integrity and consistency of the design.
We set up content section headers, image transitions, and galleries to be used as needed on any interior page.
The Results
The website design is frequently mentioned by NEDC’s customers as the reason they decided to contact New England Design and Construction over other companies, giving NEDC:
More Leads
Better site design increases trust and authority.
More Traffic
Site featured on a construction industry blog resulting in more traffic and SEO value.
Another Happy Client
More traffic and leads are great, but it’s also important the project process is smooth for the client. Read Kara’s account below of working with us (and by the way, we loved working with her, too).
